Dr Elizabeth H. Sakiey, 78, passed away at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital on Monday April, 24. Born in Trenton she resided in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Yardville then Chesterfield NJ before moving to Meadow Lakes, East Windsor NJ. Elizabeth received her Bachelors of Science degree from William and Mary College in Maryland, later to receive a Masters degree then a PhD from Rutgers University, New Brunswick. She also held a post doctorate from Princeton University. She retired “Professor Emeritus” after 15 years of service from Glassboro University, now known as Rowan. Elizabeth was author of many educational training manuals, notably with Dr Edward Fry and Dr Peg Cagney.
Elizabeth was a well known speaker at education conferences around the world. She spoke at seminars from spots as widely varied as Dublin, Ireland to Argentina, South America. She always brought home some interesting jewelry along the way. Her love affair with travel first started out as camping trips around the Michigan peninsula with her husband and daughter, later to multiple family camping trips to Chincoteague Virginia, family trips out to the great national parks of the west then later travel to Europe with her husband Francis in their retirement years.
A well spoken articulate woman, she will be remembered for her love of politics, intellectual debates and shopping. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Zola, son in law Ken Zola, and grandchildren Kara and Kenneth Zachary Zola, as well as her sister Francis Nutt and her brother in law Bob Nutt.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday April 27th at 10 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bordentown. Viewing hours will be held Thursday April 26th from 7 to 9 pm at the Bordentown Home for Funerals. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bordentown. Memorial Donations can be made to the American Breast Cancer Association. Arrangements are the direct care supervision of Robert L. Pecht, Bordentown Home for Funerals, 40 Crosswicks St Bordentown.
