Robert M. Swanson, 79 passed away peacefully on Thursday May 10, 2018 with his loving family by his side.

Born in Bordentown, Bob was a lifelong resident. He will be remembered for his easy-going spirit and innate kindness. He was a proud and active member of the Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085; receiving the esteem award of Elk of the Year. He loved local sports and served as past President of the Bordentown Area Basketball League, coached numerous sports teams and was inducted into the BRHS Hall of Fame for Basketball for the year of 1956. He was a life member and past Treasurer of Consolidated Fire Association. Bob retired from the NJ Turnpike Authority after 40 years of dedication.

Son of the late Arthur C. and Helen (nee Rogers) Swanson, he is predeceased by his wife Karen (nee Goebel) Swanson, his brother, Arthur C. Swanson Jr. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Karl and Janet Swanson, Jon and Allyson Swanson, Jay and Becca Swanson, his daughter, Jill Swanson, his beloved grandchildren, Hunter, Sarah, Brendan Swanson, his brother Donald Swanson and Olive (Lyons), special friend, Shirley Marrone, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Donations may be made in Bob’s name to The Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085 c/o Special Children’s Committee 11 Amboy Rd, Bordentown, NJ 08505.

Friends and Family are invited to attend a Celebration of Bob’s life on Tuesday May 15, 2018 10:00am at the Bordentown Home for Funerals 40 Crosswicks St. Bordentown NJ. 08505. Visiting hours are Monday 6:00~8:00pm with Elk Services at 7:00pm and Tuesday 9:00am until the time of the Service. Burial will follow at Bordentown Cemetery.
