Alvin J Joy 86 passed away peacefully on Thursday July 28th2016 at Samaritan Health Care and Hospice.

Born at home in Bordentown City he was a lifelong member of the community. In August of 1951, Alvin was drafted into The United States Army, serving with the 78th Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion (90MM) during the Korean War. He was Honorably Discharged receiving a Korean Svc Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars.

After the war, Alvin was employed as a Machine Operator for Kytex Company in Yardville, NJ; he retired after many years of service. Alvin will be remembered as a man of few words, his dry sense of humor and the ability to listen regardless of the situation.

But his greatest joy in life was being the patriarch of his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and he will be greatly missed.

The son of the late Alvin and Elizabeth Joy, he is predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary S. Joy, his brother, Kenneth Joy. He is survived by his children, Gary and Lisa Joy, Linda and Russ Weber, Donna and Bob Bijou, his grandchildren, Aimee Joy, Matthew Joy, Brian and (Mandi) Valachovic, Kevin and (Nicole Hepburn) Valachovic, Eric Bijou, Kyle Bijou, Adam Bijou, his great grandchildren, Reagan Valachovic, Harper Valachovic, Luna Hepburn, his sister, Betty and Ed Bucsku, and his nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Alvin’s life will be held on Tuesday August 1st 11:00am at The Bordentown Home for Funerals 40 Crosswicks St. Bordentown. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 ~ 8:00 pm and Tuesday morning from 10:00 ~ 11:00am at the Funeral home. Burial will follow at Bordentown Cemetery, Bordentown.
